Alone, in the rain, travelling through a half-empty city, you begin to notice that the machines here have a much more distinctive sound presence. It's as though they are speaking to one another, making music with one another. Are they moving? You pinch yourself, to make sure this isn't another fantasy. Things haven't been the same since the meeting with the monument. But this isn't an illusion, the machines are moving. Growing and glowing, they combine and connect themselves in shifting patterns that slither and dot across the city. Hypnotised by the lights and the sounds, you feel your body beginning to move of its own accord, closer and closer to the eye of the mechanical storm…
